BIBLE BOWL TEAMS
Our teenagers are very involved in competing in Bible Bowls whenever possible. Recently they have represented themselves and the church well in Oceana, Virginia and at the large Ohio Valley College competition in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This ministry is under the leadership of Pat Little with the assistance of a number of others. Competition in various Bible Bowls goes back several years with the church here and each team has done well.

CAMPUS MINISTRY
A ministry serving the students at the College of William & Mary began recently and is demonstrating some wonderful results. The ministry began as a Sunday evening Bible study, but additional activities are being added as the ministry grows. Direction for the ministry comes from the students themselves as they design it to meet their spiritual needs. A nucleus of students, both undergraduate and graduate students, work together well to coordinate the studies, fellowships and other activities. This is a very new effort on the part of the local church and we look forward to great things occurring in the future.

FAMILY GROWTH
As a church family we love to be together as often as possible so we can be mutually encouraged.  Each first Sunday we have a fellowship meal following our morning assemblies.  This is always a special time for food, fun, and fellowship!  All three are marvelous!  Added to these monthly times of fellowship are some "special" gatherings, such as:  "Welcome To The Family"  (January); "Sweethearts Dinner" (February); "Pig Picking" (May); Youth Adventures "Camp In" (August); All Church Picnic (September); Harvest Festival (October); and others such fellowships are added as needed.  Sprinkled throughout the year are:  Ladies' breakfasts; Men's Nights Out; Ladies' Nights Out; etc.  As a family we love to be together as often as possible and are always looking for ways to include others as a part of our church family!

FOOD PANTRY
Through the efforts of the whole church we provide an onsite food pantry to help meet the needs of those who are having difficulty.  These nonperishable items are distributed to any and all without any cost or obligation.  One of the main sources for maintaining this pantry are our children.  Each Sunday morning many of our children bring canned goods with them and they are given a special time during our assemblies to give their gifts to the Lord so they can be used to help others.  This is a means for us to teach our children about the blessing of giving and it provides much needed help for our benevolent ministry.  Items from this pantry can be obtained by calling the church office at 757-253-5662.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE MASTER
This is a group that meets each Sunday afternoon to encourage those who have requested prayer, absent for unknown reasons, new converts, etc.  This group writes personal notes, makes telephone calls and personal visits, and prays for those who have special needs.  They meet each Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm and anyone is invited to participate. We are now in our fourth year of sending this type of encouragement to folk within and without the family. We can always use another person to help us encourage more folk. Why not come by this Sunday at 5 o’clock and stay for the evening assembly?

OPENING UP YOUR HEART
This is an ongoing effort to prepare folk for helping those who are needing encouragement and counsel.  It is often described as "peer counseling," which means that it is a "friend helping a friend."  We meet the fourth Saturday morning of each month for a lesson, discussion, and training.  All are invited to participate at their own comfort level.  Bill Butterfield is the team leader.

TEEN MINISTRY
A ministry serving the teens of the Williamsburg Church of Christ.  The ministry is focused on helping teens understand the core values of the New Testament Church through spiritual activities, service projects, and social events.  There are 4 sets of parents who are team leads for this ministry.  Each team is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating a monthly function with input from the teens.  All monthly functions are followed by a devotional focused on Christ and his teachings.  Although we have had teen ministries in the past, we are very excited about the focus of our new teen ministry.

Roberto Hendricks has put together a wonderful PowerPoint presentation which outlines the new plan that has been developed for the teen ministry. You can choose to download the PowerPoint file and view it on your own computer (right-click on the link, or control-click for Mac users, and select DOWNLOAD FILE TO DISK), or you can view an on-line slideshow of the presentation, perfect for those without a high speed internet connection or PowerPoint software.

WE CARE MINISTRY
This ministry area is an ongoing effort to share the good news of Jesus Christ with people in our community.  The main focus is on those who visit our assemblies on multiple occasions.  We believe that "guests" are looking for someone or something that is lacking in their lives.  It may be a need to belong to a group of believers, or a need to learn more about their personal relationship with God, or a place where they can worship God with others.  Whatever the needs are the We Care ministry area wants to make every effort to fulfill those needs.  This ministry began in 2004 and continues to work with a number of people!

WELCOME, BABY!
It is our aim to provide a "welcoming" basket of items to new parents at the most significant moment in the life of their family. This ministry is served by our Sunday morning mid-adult Bible class. This program was designed in house by Beth Broxton who has coordinated it from its beginning.

WORLD BIBLE SCHOOL
More than 30 people are involved in teaching the Bible to folk from around the world who respond to advertisements.  These respondents are sent Bibles, Bible study materials, and letters of encouragement.  When a student desires further personal study, his or her name is sent to the nearest missionary who follows up with that student.  This ministry is a part of an international ministry out of Austin, Texas.  Locally it is coordinated by Linda Seeton.

YOUNG AT HEART
For those who are 55+ we have an active group called, "YOUNG AT HEART." YAH meets every fourth Wednesday for a devotional, program, and lunch. Topics of interest to the "senior" citizen are addressed on an "as needed" basis. Programs recently have been: exercise, social security, foster-grandparenting, service opportunities, protection, and health issues. Other activities have included a local "antique road show," at which the YAH were urged to bring an item or two that were special to them. Periodically, YAH goes out for lunch to one of the local restaurants. The programs and activities are varied so that the interest of all is met at some point and time. Bill and Linda Butterfield provide the leadership for Young At Heart, but the support and guidance of others is always welcomed.

YOUTH ADVENTURES
This is a group of young children, ages 3-10, who meet the second and fourth Saturdays of each month for a time of learning and fun. The group is now under the leadership of Michael and Regina Boisseau with help from several other adults. The activities always begin with a devotional period during which prayer requests are honored, the Bible is read, songs are enjoyed, and the Pledge of Allegiance is recited. Field trips are planned periodically, but most activities are conducted at the church location. Children can join this group at any time during the year and they are encouraged to invite their friends. One special part of YA is the adopted "grandparents" feature, in which several adults within the church family become the "grandparents" of a YA member. Lunch is always provided during the bimonthly meetings.
